Our Gardens are undergoing a major £2.3m redevelopment during 2011, due for completion in Spring 2012.
Some areas will be closed - see below for details.
What's going on in the Gardens?
We have been improving the buildings in the Gardens (the Bandstand and the Dutch Barn), as well as building a new Gardens Learning and Community Centre - The Pavilion.
We are re-landscaping to provide quiet areas, improve paths, facilities and access, increasing the diversity of planting and provide activity areas including a musical play area and better picnic spaces.
Overall, there will be better interpretation designed to take advantage of the links between the Museum's Collections and new and existing planting in the Gardens.
Our new horticultural facilities will provide more opportunities for volunteering, training and public educational events. The landscape is being reshaped and rejuvenated to bring the park back to life and encourage an even greater amount of visitors
